A ten minute work for strings with harp featuring long melodies
and lots of rhythmic motion in all the parts. The main parts
of the piece are in 7/8 time with a contrasting section in
3 and in 4. Video of premiere performance by the Berklee Jazz/World
String Orchestra directed by Eugene.

UNDER THE SUN
For string octet (double string quartet) @17 min.
Commissioned by Pacific Serenades of Los Angeles and premiered
in February of 2006. Under The Sun features joyful melodic and
intricate rhythmic writing for strings. The piece has five distinct
sections, but is played without a pause. This recording was
made at the premiere by members of Pacific Serenades: Roger
Wilkie, Miwako Watanabe, Sungil Lee, Brendan Speltz, violins;
Simon Oswell, Connie Kupka, violas; David Speltz, Armen Ksajikian,
cellos.
